    Monks who seek offerings on the street need permits in Taiwan to avoid the “fake baba” syndrome that happens in some places.

    • Lots of fake Baba’s in Nepal and India…they cruise the street and if you take their photo demand money…some are real and some just dress up as Baba’s…quite the racket.

  3. Leads one to ponder…. how would you be “assessed” in order to qualify for a True Monk Permit? A meditation test seems almost defeatist….
